I have a terrible dental phobia. It has taken me over 2 years to admit I need to go to the dentist again. I called one yesterday that my mom told me about to make an appointment. But now I'm freaking out. I don't think I can do this. I know I have at least 2 cavities and I have mild gingivitis (sp?) that can (and has twice) flared up to the point of needing antibiotics. I don't know what to do. I'm so scared. I'm shaking just thinking about going. What can I take or do to make this better for me?

My mom gave me this for Christmas and I absolutely love it. Gorgeous illustrations and very sweet ideas inside. Plus it's just structured enough so that I can be creative about what I include...

I have the exact same problem. My dentist is very understanding. I don't like to take any medications but knowing how important dental health is I will. My doctor will prescribe me 2 valium to get me in there. It's the only way I can go so I do it and it makes it soooo much easier.
Good Luck.
Good Luck.

It does for me, or instead ask for gas. It's awful to be so terrified and the dentist understands that. I've had both valium and gas at the same time for dental surgery and it was wonderful. But 2 valium should do it.

I had the gas last time too. Didn't make a difference in my fear at all. Maybe I'll just have to take that second pill.
I wish I could say that the dentist won't find any cavities, but I have two very obvious ones and some more *probably* hidden in the back. One of the obvious ones is a hole in my front incisor tooth.
