C section vs. vag birth with 4th degree -shoulder dystocia - Page 2

First baby 7 pounds 9 oz, and I was very fit, having gained the 'right amount' etc at the time (vs having put on a few too many with baby 2+3).

3 degree tearing - gee I was on so many drugs I didn't realize when they stitched me up for 30+ minutes and I asked what the dr. was doing and she said she was stitching up the inside, middle, inside and outside really what that meant. I didnt' walk out of the hospital and it took me 2 weeks to really be mobile...

8 years later..we get pregnant...pregnancy going along fine - the doctor gets concerned that we are having a big baby = but since I went 2 weeks early with baby one thinks I'll go early - and keeps promising me - I ended up overdue. I was so insane I was calling lawyers, he wanted me to go vaginally, and they knew my son was over 9 pounds, I couldn't do 7-9 without her widening the highway how was I going to do 9, I was convinced that they were unnecessarily putting my baby at risk, me at risk and I was just going to end up with a C-section. I had plans to drive to other hospitals - and would call my hospital to make sure my OB wasn't on call - so I could get someone who might know what they were doing - lol.

I finally go into labour, get to the hospital, they tell me I am crowning I don't believe them I make them get me a mirror and tell me what colour of hair my son has.... They tell me I can start pushing - I told them no need I am having a c-section and I am not pushing for 3 hours for nothing .....
So I push - 4 pushes he's out - I went into shock.
I couldn't open my eyes - as I believed I was still going to have that c-section so they kept saying look at your baby - It didnt' compute...
My son was born 'so fast' his lungs were wet so they took him away, he was 10 1/2 pounds.....I asked the doctor if I had any tearing....well I needed one stitch - and it wasn't from the birth - the doctor nicked me with her sissors (upper top labia like 2 o'clock above your clit.....) I call my mom 30 minutes after my son was born and she asks what he looks like - I said I have no idea....(he was still on oxygen for the wet lungs).

My dd must have been a malposition of some kind as it makes no earthly sense to me why 7-9 ripped a new lane for herself going through but 10-6 passed by no issues, no shoulder problems nothing.

But if I had to choose logically again I wish I'd had a section with the first, luckily I didn't suffer bladder damage but I could have. (I had a very old OB I am sure with a new one they'd have tried something nasty like the vaccuum
or worse inducing me early, I had one at 2 weeks early one at almost 4 weeks early they need their time in

WOW..what a story. Are you saying you wished you had a c section? Do you have problems from your 3rd degree still?

I am hoping that things will just happen in a way that I will know what the right thing is to do, and to be peaceful about it. I am hoping that things play out as they should, like in your case.
