Containers for kids' lunches: Anyone use Laptop Lunch containers?

I'm trying to get rid of all of our potentially toxic plastic storage containers....but have been having trouble coming up with safe, reasonable, and affordable containers for my DD's school lunches. I just found a website for "safe" plastic lunch sets for kids (polypropylene and polyethylene). They look great---designed by two moms with safety and waste reduction in mind.

They're kind of expensive. However not too bad when you consider the price of buying all of the pieces separately. I'm also thinking about organizing some sort of coop to get a better deal. Has anyone tried these?

The website is a great resource. Lots of great ideas for kid's lunches, free monthly newsletter of recipes and ideas, and an associated site focusing on ideas for waste reduction.

I'm picking up this old thread, because I am interested in these, too. I wish there were a coop.

I actually haven't ordered them yet. Glad to hear that you like them. Do they seem large enough to hold an ample lunch? Large enough for an adult or teenager?

There didn't seem to be any interest when I first posted this so I've held off. They're expensive but I really think that they'll last for years.

Would you be at all interested in trying to organize a coop with me? I've never done one before. Have you? I'll write the two moms who own the company to see whether they'd be open to the idea.

I'm fascinated by this!

So far, we've been using disposable paper bags for my DDs lunches because all the "reusable" lunchboxes haven't lasted more than a year. I felt that a few packages of paper lunchbags in the landfil was better than a slightly moldy vinyl lunchbox every few months!

See my thread under MDC swaps and coops... I already contacted the owners. The info is in that thread.
