NIP for the first time...this time

I have NIP many times with DD but I did it for the first time with my new baby. It was surprisingly weird...well not weird but I was a little self concious which I thought was weird.

I had Jake on Friday and of course the whole time in the hospital I had it all hanging out the whole time but I don't consider that my first NIP with him.

We had to take him to the ped yesterday for a weight check (because he lost more than 10 percent of birth weight...eeek! I am not worried)

Anyway when we got there DH had forgotten some paperwork and had to run home really quick, we live two minutes away so I was then alone with Jake. That might have made me nervous a bit. I usually like to nip in a new place with DH right next to me he is VERY NIP supportive.

Anyway no one was there and Jake started rooting so I picked him up and latched him on. It was the first time in my life NIP a newborn without a nursing shirt, cover up or anything. I had a bit of boobie showing...not much but it was hard to get completely covered and make sure that he was doing ok...he was only 4 days old.

Well then of course people started streaming in...I got a little nervous when a woman with a teenage boy came but thought oh well it is a ped office. I chatted a bit with a gal with a 3 day old baby. When we got called in I can't tell if I made a woman nervous (teenage boys mom) or if she just didn't know what I had.

I have lilypadz and while I was nursing I just stuck it to my knee. I had forgotten I did that and when I stood up I guess it fell on the floor. The woman said "ummm you dropped your breast ...nipple...thing" :LOL I kindly said thank you picked it up and walked to the room....all the while still nursing....yes!

Had to laugh at the lily padz thing. God knows how many things times I've nursed my daughter, gone on with my business, and then realized that I hadn't hooked my nursing bra back up - - or realized that a piece of my shirt was tucked into my bra or something like that.
There are certain hazards involved with nursing. :LOL

Glad your 1st NIP session with this babe went well. Happy babymoon!

Actually I was so proud. They made us bring him in the next day for a weight check. My DH just brought him in by himself after a feed. Well they put him in a room to undress Jake and of course there was a huge poop and he had peed his diaper. My DH said the nurse was there and he was like "oh great! Those are ounces right there!" The nurse laughed.....well even with losing the poop weight he had still gained a half ounce in one day...I think that is great!

They are making us come in for one more check just to make sure he is still going up...annoying to me a little but at least we don't pay for weight checks.

I can't beleive you are up and moving so soon. Good for you! Hurray for you first NIP w/ and akward little one. My new one is a chunker now but I stll remember the fragile head and neck situation when nursing w/o a pillow or something.

Hey, you should come to another BF event on Aug 6th. ProMoms is doing a national nurse out at the Seattle Center Fountian too! I'd love to get a chance to meet you this time and see your new babe. Congrats sweetie!
