oh, well

Hospital for us, with VBAC friendly ob, the DH and doula. We're having a boy with a 50/50 chance of a bleeding disorder, so we need to be right near a NICU and the hematologists. But the ob is great, to my continual surprise (he delivered an irritable speech on the idiocies of the chicken pox vax!) - and a former subscriber to Mothering...he stopped because his patients would complain from time to time. And I adore the doula. Woulda preferred a birthing center and m/w (had both picked out in case the baby turned out to be a girl), but having seen my son need urgent care for bleeding, I'm willing to be reluctantly sensible.

Hoping for a VBAC, the ob and doula think it's extremely likely, hoping for drug-free, hoping to spend a good chunk of labor at home with the kiddo. Determined to win the b'fing before cord gets cut argument. But the best-laid plans, ya know?

-Ziva, mom to the Elisha-boy , having another little person 9/13 with my sweetie, Ezra : . Just celebrated our 9th anniversary!

Wow. That's a lot of home birthers. Very cool. I'd be at home if it weren't for the tub at the birth center.

Birth center. Last time I was at the hospital with midwives, and like Keely said, the midwives were great but the hospital was annoying. Maybe we'll see each other in labor!

Hemo-mommy try to google Anne Frye, she recommends waiting an hour or more before clamping the cord, her book is like $40, but you may be able to find some of the information online if you haven't already!!! Or PM me and I'll ask my MW if I can make copies of what she gave me and mail them out!

Hospital for me too. I would like to be at home, but Dh gets wierd around blood and I didn't do the research for my area, if I would have planned the pg, I would have thought furthor in advance. I have a great OB, they work side by side with MW and understand that it really is up to me what we do unless it's an emergency situation. I also had some minor complications in the begining, hence why I kept the OB.

So no drugs or interventions for me!! And the hospital has wonderful birthing rooms! very calming atmosphere, lot's of things taken from nature, the colors and wood work and such.

Planning for a birth center!

That was our plan with Ds, but ended up transferring to a hospital. No emergency, just too tired and not going anywhere fast enough. This time we have a new birth center and new midwives, regular chiropractic visits plus hypnobirthing. :LOL
