Snap press question

Just wondering if anyone had used the dritz handheld snap press pliers? I really want to try snaps and dh isn't letting me spend the money for the actual snap press machine since I just spent $40 at diapershop and another $40 at wiggle worm.

So has anyone used it? I'm sure it's not the best option but can I use it to get through till he will let me buy the better one?

I had one and used it for 1 diaper before I gave up and bought the one from www.snapsource.com instead. Still cheaper than a snap press and the snaps are better quality.

Yep, I've used it, yep, it's terrible.
After a few washes about 3/4 of the snaps fell out.
Save up and get a real press- expensive, but resaleable.

The blue hammer on snap appliers by Dritz are pretty bad. I have vario pliers which I was frustrated with but I'll second the hammer on tool from www.snapsource.com - it works the best but you'll be swearing soon if you're going to be applying a lot of snaps. However, it's the best and it's only $9 or something. Use their metal snaps too - MUCH better than the Dritz kind for diapers.

You probably know this but I'll mention it anyway - no hand held pliers or hammer on tool will apply plastic snaps.

Ok I guess I'm gonna have to go with the hammer thing. I really want a good press but dh just wont go for it right now.
