One ? about dd, one ? about me....

hope I can kill two birds with one stone here, as I have 2 pressing dental concerns:

dd, now 13 months, has only one tooth (bottom left), which she teethed only 2 weeks ago. There are no signs of any more coming through....not even the one next to it. Is this completely out of order? Have i birthed a gorgeous healthy toothless mutant ? What sort of timeline would indicate that there might be a problem with her teeth?

And now for me:

I have surgery scheduled for my wisdom teeth to be extracted (badly impacted, and involved in nerves) in a month's time. I am still nursing dd, and do not plan to wean. Is there anything I should know about the surgery that my (non AP) dental surgeon will not have told me? And for those who have had this done, how long did it take for you to feel better (i.e. painfree) afterwards?

Thanks so much for the advice - I really appreciate this.

+I have had 3 major jaw surgeries while nursing I guess four if you count the widsom teeth but I wasn't 'out' for it...I am having another in a few months time as well....
(lol my dh calls it a hobby, I had a very messed up jaw - crossbite, overbite, openbite you name it orthognathic nightmare
1. I would ask for not the fat soluable anesthetic (my anth. says its quicker out and you can BF right away which is important for me.

Expect that you milk might temp be affected in terms of quantity.

Pain is relative to everyone one, I had my lower jaw broken with very little pain only regular tylenol - which is pretty good considering they sawed it in four places, split both sides of my jaw down the middle and screwed it back into place.

Don't go easy on the pain killers for the first while, but get ones that 'make sense'.
I liked the tylenol/gravol much better than the oxycontin which I found got me happy and high but I still had a bunch of pain.

I had my wisdom teeth done while nursing too, but that was years ago. I wouldn't let them put me out so it was done with only freezing .... I was faint and light headed to the point of dizzy almost passing out for that day and the next.

Also make sure you have easy to drink high nutrition foods around incase you don't feel much like eating/chewing.

and about your dd shes probably fine my dd started at 12 months and there is no set order as the teeth are underneath they just have to break out- you can take her to a dentist for feel, but look inside is her jaw just an arc or are there whiter bumps, etc.
