Kwik Sew - Opinions

I am planning on unburying my sewing machine and having a go at making my own clothes again after 15 years of doing nothing more than a couple super simple quilts.

So I am thinking about playing with some Kwik Sew patterns.

Do you have any favorites - women and children (boys)?

What are their books like?

I have heard really good things about the KS books. I am just barely getting into Kwik Sew myself...but am very close to purchasing the toddlers one. (the vintage one from the 60's, not the one from the 80s that is current)

Here is a link. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/off...?condition=all
I have seen some things that people sew up from this book on both the amity sewing board and the new sewingmamas.com board. They are really cute, classic patterns, and there are a TON in the book. Seems like a good deal.

For me, I have recently tried a couple KS patterns for tops. I really like the designs! Also, the pattern paper is SO nice and thick and easy to read. It's like a million times nicer than the tissue stuff you get with simplicity etc. The only thing that keeps me from ONLY buying ks is the price. So I joined the yahoo coop group. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/kwiksewcoop/

I hope I helped some! I am new to it all myself, but really happy to have found some stuff I like.

I have the vintage toddler book and the new as well as a few other patterns. I LOVE them. Very easy to follow and understand. Go for it!

Can anyone point me toward some pics of finished items from the vintage toddler book? I looked at some of the used ones from amazon and I'm really interested in getting one but I can't find any of the patterns to see if its something I could handle... :

I have two KS books: Sewing for Toddlers and Sewing for Baby. The ones I have are from the 80s, but I like them very much. The books teach you how to get new looks from one pattern, which is a skill one can use with any pattern. Maybe I'll try and get the 60s vintage books, too.

I much prefer Kwik Sew patterns, and use the books a lot. Their instructions usually use garment-industry shortcuts, and the books have a lot of altering & combining instruction, which is a very valuable skill to learn!
