Furniture polish question...

I've seen women say they use olive oil to "dust" their wood furniture. Is that only for real wood or would it work for cheap, imitation wood too? If it doesn't what would you use for cheapy furniture (like laminate and the likes)?

Thanks!

If the laminate is that plastic-y stuff found on really cheap you-assemble-it type of furniture, I'd just use a damp cloth. Maybe some vinegar if there was gunk that needed to be removed.

For real wood or laminate that is made of wood (wood veneer), I'd use a dry cloth or something oil-based. Maybe not olive oil, but that's just because I prefer a citrus oil for wood. I don't think OO would hurt the wood. Just use it sparingly so that it's not greasy!
