My dh said "What did you get from a place called Sew Shop?"

Well dang it! I've been wondering if the box would come today or not and was thinking how since dd's napping, I could be trying to sew a diaper and the entire time the box was sitting right behind me! AHHH!

So I have my hands on all sorts of fun stuff - elastin, sherpa, a pattern :LOL

I know what I'm doing for the rest of the weekend - swearing at my sewing machine and serger

Okay, so not going as well as planned, lol!

My dream - spending the weekend sewing and ending up with a halfway decent first attempt.

Reality - Saturday, ended up feeling like crap and dh saying "Let's watch a movie together" but we didn't b/c he played Xbox with a friend instead and I went to bed. Sunday rolls around and I am itching to get going but instead we do happy family stuff and by the end of the day, dh wants to watch the movie, so I preserve my pattern in clear contact paper while watching "National Treasure" (good flick btw.) Monday rolls around and I spill milk on the pattern but luckily I only have to wipe it dry since I preserved it in contact paper and that's as far as I got. So tonight I clear the table, get out everything, trace, cut fabric, get all set and I'm having serger issues. Okay, so the biggest issue is that I'm not great with a serger and can't turn corners yet, lol! Well, one corner's nice, but the other three look really strange. And my thread's doing something weird and one isn't catching so it's all loopy but I think it's a tension thing so I'm going to fix the tension (wish me luck) and practice corners with the pieces I've mucked up already and then try this all again!

What's funny is that I'm oddly determined to do this. I don't know if it's b/c I've bought way too much in fabric to give up now or that I know I can do this once I get the hang of it or that I really really really want to do this...I think it's a combination of all three.

Isn't that always the case? You finally get a decent block of time, plus the energy to do something you're itching to do, and then something gets in the way.

Not just a block of time, but the kitchen table all to me, lol! However, dh is all interested in me sewing diapers (he sees me as the future love of the hyenas or something where people will go out of their way to stalk the diapers I make :LOL ) So at least I have his support in this.
