I'll look and see what I can find. Though, the best way to keep them from giving pacis, etc is to not let your baby out of your or your dp's sight.

Most hospitals provide one don't they?? The hospital where my son was born was very good about not giving bottles or paci's unless requested.

There's another site that makes them too, wish I could remember the name. They do all kinds too like "breastfed baby -- no artificial nipples/water", "No Circ" all kinds. The hospital where I had my 2nd put cards in if you asked, which I did. He only left me for about an hour while he slept and I took myoldestup to the playroom to play (the hospital had a playroom, it was great!) His cards were for being breastfed, pick me up when I cry, and no circ I put the "pick me up when I cry" in there personally while I nurse watched. It stayed in there and he slept the whole time I was gone anyway My first was born in a different hospital and they asked our wishes before taking him to the Special Care Nursery then put a card in for him, I thought that wasnice. He did take a binky, but he had blood drawn and IVs placed and I thought that was the lesser evil, at least he had *something* if I couldn't be there. You can always make your own ahead of time!

When I had ds3 ( cant remember ds2 it was 10 yrs ago) my nurse wrote in black sharpie " I am a BREASTFED BOY" on the card with his weight height etc. He never left the room and we went home 24hrs later but I thought that was nice of her.

we don't plan on letting the little one out of our sight at all...we made the mistake last time of letting the nurses take our dd to the nursery to weigh, measure, all that stuff, and she came back with a pacifier. we also plan to be out of the hospital ASAP...as long as the VBAC goes smoothly, we will be outta there as soon as my midwife can discharge us. but just to play it safe, i thought a card might be an idea. i never thought it would really be necessary the first time...didn't think that they would *actually* give these things without permission, but learned the hard way!

In my local hospital that is NOT an option. They take the baby to the nursery 3 times a day for 2 hours during shift change. It is mandatory and the only way to get away with it is to get dicharged ahead of time. I have talked to quite a few moms who have fought to keep their baby with them to no avail.

However, the same hosital never mentioned formula to me eventhough DS was still loseing weight when he were dicharged. They also don't offer paci's, if you want your baby to have one you have to bring your own to the hospital. They do still use the bottle of sugar water which I know now is not mandatory, but I wouldn't trust them not to do it.

I would definitly make a little sign and put it in the bassinet just in case. They take care of so many babies it has to be hard to keep all the 'orders' straight. Especially when they are 'minor' (in the eye of the nurses) like no forumla or paci's.
