Smelly shirts

I've been wearing some new shirts that have cap sleeves on them so of course the bottom of the shirt rides right in me pit. For some reason, I cannot get the armpits clean (not stain, just smell). I changed my B.O.derant and that helped a little bit still working on getting it out. I was using some Rit Stain Remover on it because it works well on degreasing (figured that the smell was getting trapped in deodorant oils), but now I can't find that anywhere and think it was discontinued. Any tips for getting rid of the smell? I've tried regular detergant, fabric softener, oxyclean, essential oils (peppermint), scrubbing the pits, the stain remover, etc. Was thinking about using vinegar in the downy ball. Any ideas?

I have that problem often. The only thing that has ever worked is a product called "OUT" that they sell as a pet stain remover and I have seen it in a different bottle in the baby section (called Toddler stain out or something). I used to keep a bottle by the hamper and just spray my pit spots as I undressed. It got rid of the smell very well.

I have also done boiling vinegar right on the spots, aspirin water on the spots, but they didn't work as well. If you can't find OUT, maybe the Nature's Miracle that they sell for pet odors would work as well.

Here is the product I am talking about:

Thanks! I didn't even think about that. I'm sure that will help a lot!

Do you sweat a lot? I'm having some problems finding a good deodorant, but I've heard that's not really uncommon. I WISH I could find a "natural" aluminum-free style but they NEVER work for me no matter how many times I reapply or anything. I'm stuck with using my partner's deodorant right now until the weather cools down.

Yeah, I have always been a heavy sweater I used Mitchum for awhile with good results, but I seem to get immune to everything after awhile. I have never had an antiperspirant that kept me dry dry all day.

The OUT is one of those enzyme eating products. It has always worked great for me.

Did you try tea tree oil? Good luck!

How about adding baking soda to the wash cycle?

I think you need to do a long soak in the hottest water you can for your fabric in oxygen bleach.

I buy my OB from Natural Choices as the Oxyclean has so many fillers in it.

Or You could soak in H2O2 and baking soda.

Tried a couple overnight soaks in O2 bleach. Nothing.

I'm hoping that the baking soda will help .

We have that problem with mostly dh's shirts-- sometimes.
Someone mentioned boiling vinegar. you could try plain cold vinegar, perhaps a spray bottle filled with half and half vinegar and water,to put on as you undress or a soak in the washer with cool water and vinegar *** the boiling will make the antibacterial properties null so ONLY COOL water**

Calgon is also good, it lifts soil out of fabric.

I have bought shirts at yard sales with yucky underarms just because I knew I could get them clean. I use to use tide and a high quality oxygen bleach. Now i use oxygen bleach, washing soda and homemade laundry soap.

I think Calgon is washing soda just more pricy than WS. :LOL

I have that problem too, especially post-partum : It's a PITB!!

I've had semi-good luck with spraying straight vinegar on the pits. I tried Bac-out (stuff I use on diapers) thinking that would be the answer, but it didn't do anything noticeable. Something else I've thought of but haven't tried yet is scrubbing the pits with Dawn dish soap and hot water.

Let me know if you find the answer.
