Bleached hair and no 'poo question

Ok, so I have decided to go 'poo free. I don't want to damage my hair anymore, after doing everything under the sun to kill it for the past 7 years

Anyway, back in November I bleached my hair. I have pretty long roots now, but about 60-70% of my hair is still bleached. I'm going to grow out my roots more before I cut off the bleached part.

Well, today when I massaged BS paste into my hair, the part that was bleached started to smell like ammonia. Is that normal for bleached hair, or is this something I should worry about? It didn't smell like it anymore after I rinsed it out with ACV, but after my hair dried there was still a little bit of an ACV smell.

Oh, and one more question. Do I have to rinse my hair in cold water? I hate using cold water

And my hair is really greasy today I'm going to stick it out until it's back to normal, but I hate having greasy hair. Ok, that was just a small vent

I'd suggest massaging the paste into your scalp, and try to get as little as possible on the hair itself- that should take care of the greasies, as well as minimize the amonia smell. I've never bleached my hair, so I don't know if that's "normal" or not.

There's no need to use cool water for rinsing- I use warm water with no bad effects.

Ruthla is right. Only your scalp produces sebum, so only your scalp needs the BS directly applied. The rinsewater running down the rest of your hair should be enough to get rid of incidental dust and dirt that would be on the length of your hair.

You might also try a weaker BS solution, like a Tb in a pint of water, and not a paste. A BS paste is pretty darn strong. I use it to scrub my tub & toilet.

Have you considered using henna (or cassia if you don't want any color) to strengthen and soften your damaged hair? www.HennaforHair.com

: I read somewhere that I needed to make a BS paste :

Thanks for both of your help I'm going to look into henna. I'm not sure if I want to do that, since I'm just going to cut the damaged part off once it grows a bit longer, but thanks for the link.
