pattern or instructions for wetbags?

I am looking for a wetbag for my diapers and one for my wipes and think it may be cheaper just to make my own. For the wipes I can use cotton or whatever I have handy becuase I dont keep them wet and the used ones can go in the diaper wetbag. So, is there any site with instructions?

Ok I know this isn't exactly what your looking for but Jan's PUL, link in the diaper resources sticky, has a laundry bag free pattern that can be easily modified to make a wet bag. I used it to make my kids swim bag and it worked great. Basically all you need to do is sew a layer of pul into a square leaving one side open. Then add your closure. You could also put a cute layer on it by sewing another square of material and putting the pul square inside of it. DON"T SEW THE TWO LAYERS TOGETHER!

Hope that helped and didn't confuse you.

when you say don't sew the layers together - do you just sew them together at the zipper then or how do you keep the two bags together?

You sew the PUL into a bag with the top open, then sew the cute fabric into a bag with the top open, so now you have two bags with open tops. Then sew the two bags together ONLY at the top where your closure is. That way the side and bottom seams won't wick to the outside. Does that help, or only muddy the waters?

Except that when I made mine, I sewed them together at the zipper first, then sewed each layer into a bag. :LOL

If you sew two squares of fabric (one PUL and one not), how do you get the seam to look nice around the zipper? Is there any way to sew the zipper on inside out and then turn it througha little hole that you leave open? I want to make a wetbag soooo bad but I am utterly confused, even by studying ones that I have bought!! Agh nursing turns my brain into mush.

Yes, I did, and I posted pictures and the link I used for instructions here . I love the way the zipper is inserted, very easy.

If you have questions, just ask!

Kari_mom, you've inspired me! I just ordered some 2mil PUL and I'm planning to make myself a few of these wetbags in different sizes. Thanks for the link and the pics!
