Fertility Milestone and PCOS

I thought I'd post since anyone else I told this to wouldn't understand. Anyway, I'm so excited this month. I've been on a non-processed sugar and non-processed wheat diet for the last 6-7 months, because of what I read I could possibly have hypothyroidism. So, I haven't charted for awhile and this month I did and instead of ovulating on the 18th or 19th day of my cycle I ovulated on the 15th! Yeah! This is really big for me. It's been two years since I've ovulated so early and I think a big thing was my diet steadily got worse because I became really depressed not getting pregnant right away, so now I'm back on track with my diet. I think the biggest thing for me is that ovulating on the 18th or 19th day of my cycle wasn't giving me a long enough luteal phase to give a pregnancy a chance. Now even if my cycle were to end on the 28th day I would have a minimum of 13 days instead of 9-11 days. Yeah! I know this is a small milestone, but it is a milestone none the less.
The second thing is we had intercourse the night I ovulated! Yeah! Also, 5 days before, but not sure if that would help or not. I know sperm can last up to 5 days in the fallopian tube. So, anyways, I'm really excited! Thanks for listening ladies. :
Oh, I also had a question on PCOS. What is it? And how do you find out if you have it and what are the symptoms? Just curious cuz I'd want to rule it out yk.

Congrat, Cathy! to you!!!

PCOS has a lot of different symptoms and is hard to diagnose. I found out I had it because an US showed cysts on the ovaries. I then went to an endocrinologist who said that seeing cysts isn't an accurate diagnosis that you need bloodwork. They test the assorted hormone levels and also check you glucose and insulin. Some symptoms are hair loss, hair growing where it shouldn't, weight gain around the middle, unable to lose weight even when trying, irregular periods, acne/oily skin, and okay overall cholesterol levels with high HDL levels.

Thanks mimid!
I don't think I have that then because I don't have any of those symptoms. Went on this whole grain and no sugar diet and lost 10-15 pounds. I'm eating better now than I have ever in my life! Now just waiting to get pregnant if that is possible I guess.
