Knitting machines?

Can someone tell me about knitting machines? Are they easy to use? Are they expensive to buy?

I think I'd really like something like this. I'd love to be able to sit and knit soakers and longies and hats and blankets and such for my babies. But honestly, I don't have the time! A friend told me she used to make baby hats with a knitting machine and that it was really easy.

Does anyone have any information on these that you could share with me?

I have the Ultimate Sweater Machine and I don't really like it... : I think if I had a room dedicated to hobbies that I could LOCK so I could leave my machine set up, I'd use it.

The machine takes a while to set up and get used to. With a baby around and all our animals, I just can't leave it out. I watched the video which was helpful but they recommend that you just leave the project in progress on the machine and I just can't do that... it would get RUINED.

I'm still debating whether or not to sell it...

OH I forgot about price! I used my Joann's 50% off coupon and got the Ultimate Sweater Machine for $50. Its usually around $100 for the machine and there are some attachments you can get to make bigger projects.

i have the Bond Ultimate Sweater Machine too and it's a real PITA. in theory, it looks like it should be easy: slide the thing-a-ma-jobber back and forth on the track and it knits. Presto! but it jams up all the time and doesn't slide back and forth very easily. it skips stitches, which means i have to go back and manually stitch those stitches before running the next row.

i dunno, maybe it's a learning curve. i haven't spend a whole helluva lotta time with it. but i bought the stupid thing because i don't HAVE alot of time to knit!!!!

at least hand knitting is relaxing. that *%*@# machine drives me .
