How Many?

How many dipes would you have on hand for a 2 year old? When my niece is here I cd her but I don't have all that many in her size. Within the next two weeks she's going to start being here for 4 or 5 days at a time and I don't want to be washing every single day so how many should I have for a child her age? Enough for say 2 days.

depends on what kind of kid you have got on your hands. My dd wets all at once some days and some days trickles each day. We send her for a full dc day with 6 diapers and a dirty bag. There's almost always one leftover...but sometimes none and she comes home in the backup disposable.

We wash wed and fri (and sunday). We own about 25 diapers in her size, but she's with us at night too, obviously.

I would go with 20 if you can. That way you will have enough for two days, most days, and a few extra while you wash. You could probably get by with as few as 12-15 if you wanted. Depends on her habits, you know?

Thanks ladies. When she's here she's here all day and night and it's soon going to be 4-5 days AND nights at a time, long story about a worthless sibling. I know the past few times I've had her she's gone through all the diapers I have by the time I change her in the morning. I think there's 8 in her size. I do have some fitteds that my mother gave me but I don't like using the plastic pants and I don't have enough covers, the ones I have have fleece so have to be changed with every diaper change. Maybe I'll just make up some covers and use these fitteds instead of making up dipes.

Thanks ladies.

fleece covers??? When I'm in a tight spot on diapers I take the stuffing out of my fuzzi bunz and use them as covers. We have tons more prefolds than fuzzi bunz.

Maybe spend 10-20 bucks and get some prefolds, even the gerber ones from target, to start with. A handful of covers. Work up the stash from there.

Pull-on nylon covers from Dappi are way nicer than the vinyl "plastic" pants and can be had pretty cheaply on ebay and at Babies R Us I think. Buy them new if you can, they work way better and are almost as cheap as used. Just be sure the label says 100% nylon, because Dappi (and Alexis) also make the vinyl ones. I like to dye mine fun colors with food coloring. They wash and dry super quick, you can just rinse them off if they aren't gross and they will hang dry overnight. I like these so dd can pull her fitteds up and down herself when using the toilet.

My dd is also 2 and some days uses 0 diapers, other days she will use 8. You never know with a toddler...
