Has anyone ever tried Nikwax CottonProof? Does it work? Is it good?

I have never actually tried it but I did call the company and they said it will make the fabric water resistant not water repellent.

I was thinking of using it to treat fabric that goes over the pul (i know everyone says "don't do it" but i gotta take my lumps kwim?)

You can do fabric over pul you just have to be careful. I always use something over my pul. The best way to do it is with some sort of binding instead of surging or turn and topstitch. FOE is of course the best since it also gives you the elastic but you could use microfleece.

Yeah it should be fine. I always absolutely always put another fabric on the outside of a dipe. I like cute little dipes not plain ones. My niece wears them when she's here and she is a very heavy wetter and she's goes all night in a dipe without any leaks at all. I'm talking 10pm to 9am. Like I said you just have to be very careful about how you do it.
