Firtst Visit To Midwife

Besides being 45 minutes late, it went well! We have to drive 100 miles to get to her house - I didn't anticipate traffic being as bad as it was! Luckily, she was okay with it and didn't want to reschedule. It was nice seeing her again - it's been almost two years since Luisa was born and I had missed my monthly visits with her! We pretty much did all the routine stuff - I peed in a cup, she asked questions, took my bp and filled out a lab sip slip for blood work. We moved my edd up to March 18 from the 24th since I am fairly positive I o'd on day 14 and not day 21 like I had in the past. She asked if I wanted a pap and all that - I declined. She doesn't reccommend them since they can cause m/c. She asked me if I wanted an u/s to confirm dates - I said no. I'm going to try to NOT do a lot of tests if possible - I might opt for a late u/s to check the position of the placenta since I worry about accrectia. I am so thankful that I have a DEM - I was talking to BIL's gf who is 39 or 40 and 16 weeks pg - she's being poked and prodded and subjected to every test known because she's "old"!! I'm just so happy I don't have to go through that! I go back Sept 9 - hopefully we'll be able to hear a heartbeat by then!

What a nice meeting, Andrea. Isn't it great when everything goes smoothly? We are going to use a midwife this time, too, though we'll birth in the hospital, and I'm looking forward to the more relaxed pace and to less intervention and testing than the first time.
