Have you shared your news? - Page 2

i have only told one person--a coworker, the only person who even knew we were ttc. i'm going to have to tell HR because i need to discuss the maternity leave benefits, but other than that i'm in no hurry to broadcast it yet.

So far we've only told my sister. And that was mainly to secure some baby stuff

My 1st appt. is Sept 20th so will probably wait until then to spread the news but I am dying to tell. I think we will tell the girls first and have them relay the news to people when we see them. Celestialdrmrmama - I really like the cards you used - what a cute idea - may have to do something like that for out of town people.

I'm more excited to tell my friends; will probably get more remarks about having a baby over 40 from family. But my sister had one when she was 40 so maybe they are over it now. I'll tell sooner if I start showing - jeez my waistbands are already snug! Work will be the last to know.

We've told my parents, and I've told a few friends who I was discussing the possibility with when AF never showed up (I honestly didn't believe I was pregnant, because I'd had symptoms before where I was sure I was preg, and I wasn't, so I guess I didn't want to get my hopes up ).

The more people that know, the more nervous I get. I think we'll tell everyone after my appt on Sept 22nd. Although I've heard through the grapevine that there's already been speculation, since I've stopped having the occassional beer at social gatherings!

Both sets of grandparents know, but not all family. I've told a few friends, somewhat radomly. I wanted to wait awhile since I am only 4 weeks, but I find I have far too big a mouth, and I'm just too excited.

I also find myself telling very near strangers!! I guess I feel very confident with this pregnancy. We didn't tell anyone about ds until I was 12 weeks.

With my other pgs we told people almost right away. This time we are keeping things quiet, mainly because I don't want to deal with other people's (mainly my mom and mil) negative energy -- having a history of pg loss, I know some people might think we are nuts to try again. I have told 2 friends, though. One who is the most supportive person I know, and the only one to have cried with me over my last m/c; and the other is an old friend from childhood who was just visiting us from Italy (I wanted to tell her in person now, rather than via email later).

I have to say, I feel like it would be easier to tell acquaintances than some family and close friends. Ds knows something is up, but we are being a bit vague, saying we are hoping to have another baby, etc. But he remembers my nausea and tiredness from earlier in the year -- we just don't want to 'officially' tell him to reduce the likelihood of him sharing the news.
