anyone else running out of time for a VBAC?

My OB said yesterday that if I don't delivery in two weeks (by the time I'm 41 weeks) he wants to do a repeat section. I know two weeks is a long time and anything could happen, but I'd be so disappointed to have to have another section. I was able, I think, to convince him to let me go closer to 42, but I don't think I can push it further than that.

I'm sorry that you are being surrounded by so much stress in this time of your pregnancy.

Its quite likely you will go into labor naturally before 42 weeks. 42 weeks should be the minimum that they "let" you go.

Of course you know that its not the doctor's decision. You can refuse the c-section. Its good to have someone that can provide support and guidance but when their guidance becomes counterintuitive then its not what you need anymore.

Have you tried adding supplements to your diet to help prepare your body for labor? You really can't make it start but you can make things favorable once your body and baby are ready to be born.

I am currently taking EPO orally and vaginally (when I remember!) and RRL capsules. I feel better being productive and working towards labor preparation. I am also having my first vaginal birth.

EPO I believe is contraindicated in women with a uterine scar. Just wanted to pop on and mentiont that! Using sex and semen is a better bet.

Hmmm...my last was four days "overdue" and my second VBAC. Dr. didn't mention doing a c/s at all. I'll be 40 weeks on Friday and the last thing I heard from him was "We're still doing the VBAC, right?"

I agree anything can happen in 2 weeks! And if you feel comfortable going longer, go for it!

Good luck!

A little light reading for you on your right to refuse.

Sending calm labor vibes your way. Good luck!

Contraindicated? Really? EPO only makes tissue softer. It does nothing to increase contractions. Do you have any links to research or expert opinions I can read? My MW has had me taking it orally for months. It is supposed to be good for scars in general. If it's not, then I'd love to read about it. I did a quick Google search and only found favorable opinions. TIA!

EPO is perfectly safe for VBAC. Its not as strong as the prostagladins that are used for medical inductions.

Its safe to take all throughout pregnancy for that same reason.

But if you don't feel comfortable with it then of course that's your decision not to use it.

I am taking a little EPO and am going for a VBAC any day soon!
On another note, why do you have to have a repeat c section at 41 weeks? Is it a state law or hospital law? I don't have those same restrictions on me for my VBAC. It doesn't seem fair for you.
Would the doc even consider stripping your membranes or something before he went for the surgery.
OK, labor vibes coming your way. You will have this baby this week.
