Anyone still nursing?

My dd is just 10 mo. We are still nursing a lot!! She is addicted. She probably still nurses 6 times a day. I just started feeling sore. Neither one of us are ready to wean yet. We had planned on child led weaning but I dont know if I can do this.

My ds is 27 months, and still nurses a lot overnight. I agree, it hurts.
I've read to use some of the same imagery from labor to get through the nursing.
You might have to work out some sort of compromise with your daughter, like nurse every other time she asks, and use distraction in the interim...just to give yourself a break.

I have a 26 month DS, and he is showing no signs of slowing down with nursing (some days all day and all night, some days once or twice, and at night)

My Nipples are definitely feeling more sensitive due to PG with #2, but I am hoping that the PG will cause DS to wean on his own... we'll see!

I'm still nursing my 15 mo old dd. It has been uncomfortable sometimes but I don't plan on making her wean forcefully. She has cut back some since I got pg so she may end up self weaning during the pregnancy, but I'm ok with tandem nursing also.

I am still nursing my 2 and a half year old but she usually only nurses in the morning. I haven't had any nursing pain yet so that's good, but when I was pregnant with her and nursing my oldest, the pain didn't start until I was a little further along.

I'm still nursing my DD who is 18 months. Mostly, I'm very sore when she latches.... almost feels like she's biting even though I know she is not. I try to nurse her as long as I can. Sometimes, she switches back and fourth between breasts (multiple times). Lately, when I'm feeling really sore I'll let her nurse from both sides and then tell her that her "nummies" need a rest. Sometimes she protests, sometimes she's fine with it. I'm just trying to go with the flow right now. I don't plan on weaning her. If the soreness stays as it is I can definately do it. If it gets worse, I'll have to cut her down a bit here and there, but not totally wean.

My baby is 10 months old too. My milk supply started to decrease because she was nursing less, but after taking fenugreek we are right back up to about 5-6 times a day. Sometimes I do feel raw from her non-nutritive sucking, but I am used to the sensation, I guess.

When I feel tenderness from my baby's nursing I use Lansinoh brand lanolin on my nipples. It works quickly to heal them and ease the pain. If you go around braless as often as you can get away with it (at home?), I believe that helps to desensitize them.

Hoepfully you can find ways to stick with your goal. And if you decide to start weaning on your own you can supplement with whole milk at 12 months. It's only a couple months away...

I am still nursing my 16 month DD. I have not gotten sore yet, but I know it is coming. I weathered the soreness with my second pregnany a few years back and my experience is that it was only really hard for about 4 months. Then it got easier again. At least that is my memory. So if you can and wish to, hang in there and make compromises with your nursling so you are both happy!

I am still nursing my 17 mo. old. I have noticed a decrease in my supply, but it hasn't seemed to bother him. I hope to nurse till at least 2yrs (March), but would also have no problem tandem nursing if he doesn't wean.

still nursing my 2yo here, but Iknow her needs now are much different thant they were at 10 mos. Somethong that has helped me get through rough times before was to make a commitment to myself that i would nurse at least x amount of time longer & then reevaluate. It seemed much easier to take in 2 week chunks than it was in large doses.

My ds is 2 yo and still nurses like crazy. It seems that he nurses way more than any other 2 yo I know, including children of crunchy moms (I guess that goes without saying). I went through a few weeks of feeling nipple soreness, but it seems to have gotten better in the last week or two. I have heard that it can get really bad, so I'm bracing myself. I don't want to wean, unless of course he's ready, so I will try to do what I can to work through whatever pain comes.

I have been pregnant nursing or both combined for the past 6.5 years.
I have nursed right through pregnancy 2 and 3 and now nursing through pregnancy 4 (found out last week ) I did find that toward the end of the pregnancy that my nipples were sore but pushed through (they just nursed alot less often, once or twice a day).
It's really practical to have an older child nursing when the new baby comes, they can help relieve engorgement

Hee hee, I was reading all those posts about frequent nursers nursing 5-6 times a day and giggling to myself..... DD is 9.5 months old and she has never nursed less than every 2-3 hours, day and night. I think my supply has gone down a little, but she is still getting at least 1-2 letdowns every time she nurses. My nipples have been sore too, but that just seems to be a part of life for me. Some days are worse than others, but overall we're making it!

I meant to post this earlier... fenugreek is not something you should be using during pregnancy. There's something else (I think it's called More Milk Plus--*not* More Milk 2) which is safe for pregnancy.

My DS is only 10 mos. also, I'm glad to know I'm not the only one having kids this close! It came as quite a shock to me and DH, and I have started to feel sore today when DS nurses. On top of it, he is a little sick, so he won't eat any solids, and has been nursing 12x/day for the past week. This has really brought up my supply to an uncomfortable level. DH wants me to wean DS by January, he'd be 15 mos. I really have mixed feelings, since I had a goal of 2 years, and I don't want him to resent the new baby. I can't imagine getting any bigger, though, I'm already a J! Do your breasts seem the same size or are they getting bigger. I hope mine don't get bigger!
