I'm Having a FOURTH Ultrasound!! At 39 Wks

I can't believe it, but I'm having yet another u/s. It seems nuts with all these folks here having babies that I'm still having a u/s.

Today at my appt, I measured small. I measured small several weeks ago and had a 3rd u/s and all was fine. I still measure small -- why is that surprising?-- so they think it's a good idea to get things checked out.

Seriously, I bet it's because the baby is sooooo low. DH and I took a long walk and she moved down more, I'm pretty sure. Her head is practically at my knees! :LOL

So, I'm about 5% worried and 95% certain everything will be fine. This just isn't what I expected, and I feel like I live at doc appts. Ugh.

You are right, I bet everything is going to be just fine. I never had a late US, but my sister did. She said it is really cool to see the baby. Their features are so big and you almost can't make out the body parts anymore.
Good luck. Keep us posted.

I'm sure all is well!

Just curious because I meause small, too... How small are you measuring? Have you been growing at all, or are you shrinking?

Regardless, I hope all is well and I'm sure you're right that nothing is wrong. Best to know for sure, though.

Take good care,

I get u/s every week and I get so excited to 'see' him. I hope all is well, Kitty

Sorry you are going through this. I know what you mean about feeling like there's a babe at your knees, though :LOL

For some reason, the word "shrinking" made me smile. My whole body is shrinking! Sorry, I'm a silly mood at the moment.

I tend to measure 2 cm off. However, I think she said I was 36 cm today, and this is week 39 for me. The cms go up each week, but it's not the number they want to see for the week of gestation.

My u/s will be on Monday. Meanwhile, the little kicker just woke me from a nap. I find it hard to believe she isn't just fine.

I guess I'll look on the bright side. I'll get to see her cute, smushed-up face again.

hmm, interesting. I've slowed down on the measuring too but my mw didn't seem too concerned since I am fullterm. at my 39 wk appt today I was measuring 37 or 38 I think? about the same as the week before. baby is in a very tight ball in my belly though, and low, so she wasn't worried. just enjoy seeing your baby again, i'm sure all is well

Why do they even still do fundal height.. its such a useless measurement and does not really tell you anything about anything!

I think I read they stopped doing it in the UK.

I had an ultrasound the day I went into labor with DD! It was our first one though. They were worried about IUGR because my bp had been high for awhile. Everything looked fine although the tech said the baby would not come for a couple of weeks, lol. Five hours later and I was in labor.

They are worried with IUGR with me, too.

Haha, Nancy, they should never say never!

I wouldn't worry. I started measuring small around 36 weeks and had a 7lb 5oz baby 2 weeks early--so much for their dumb measurements!

I know you're not worried, but just thought I'd share my similar story to ease any ounce of worry... I've been measuring 5 cm off (ie. 5 weeks behind) for the past four weeks and after an u/s at 36weeks which showed nothing abnormal, my midwife hasn't worried about it at all.

Keep us posted, though

Take care,

Thank you for sharing that! I'm beginning to wonder if I have paranoid m/ws or if they get a cut of the u/s profits.
