Im gonna officially call myself as 'out'...I'm up but I'm in a foul mood because of how my day started.

Gonna lay down and hopefully the next time I wake up things will be better.

Aw. I think you were my last hope of someone coming! Oh well. At least the threat of people coming got House Man to help me tidy up and fold laundry and unload the dishwasher!

When Thomas was a month old, I ran out to get Finn vaccinated because 19 (!!!) kids in his preschool came down with chicken pox, and I didn't want Thomas to catch it. I was pretty sure that since he was breast-fed, he would have my immunity & I've had the chicken pox, but I didn't want to take the chance. Although, the chicken pox might have been less traumatic for Finn than the needle was!

This quote is from the AskDrSears.com website:

I HAVE A NEWBORN AND MY OLDER CHILD WAS JUST EXPOSED TO CHICKENPOX, OR JUST BROKE OUT WITH CHICKENPOX. WHAT SHOULD I DO?

If your older child was exposed, then try and keep the baby away from him during the 7 to 21 day period after exposure. This may be tough, but it's important. Breastfeeding will help provide your baby with some immunity. If your older one breaks out in chickenpox, then just quarantine him until no longer contagious as above. If your newborn infant was exposed before you knew the situation, there is really no way to prevent the illness, yet most likely your newborn carries your immunity to chickenpox.
Hope that's helpful...

Well, no pox here, and we're past the 16 day mark, so it's looking like we'll be around for knitting this week.

Hooray! I've missed knitting the last two weeks.

I may be in...Phil is between night shifts that day so I definitely cannot host. The other issue is that Cam has no school, so it depends on a couple factors. He's grounded this week for his behaviour this weekend, so I can't really take him out to play at someone else's house, kwim? Plus he has a book report coming due next week and that day is perfect for cracking down to it....

We'll see. I'd love to be there though.

I need to clean Friday anyway (getting a babysitter Friday night to go see Star Trek, woohoo!!!), so I can host this week.

Oh, most of the people who were in on the play silk order are on here, so I'll mention that now that the good weather is here, and we can open windows, at this point I'm just waiting for the whole chicken pox thing to be gone from our whole group so everyone can take part in a dyeing party. I'm willing to host, since my kitchen is going to be gutted soon anyway.

Ideas for how to run it would be appreciated. I was thinking maybe we could divvy up colours, and have everyone bring 2 or something like that, and then we can all share? Do Acid Dyes work for everyone? Or does anyone have an idea for what might work better. Anyone who has one can bring a dye pot, I have four burners, an over and a bbq with a side burner, so lots of space. If needed there's also a microwave... though it takes a minute on full power to melt a tablespoon of butter, on a good day, so it's kinda slow.

Thoughts? Questions? Anecdotes? ...

I'm in this week, so I'll see you at your house, C. I'll think about what I can contribute to a dyeing party. I could borrow my mom's dye pot, for example.

I'm out.

I side-swiped a parked car (a bug flew into my face, I swiped at it, sort of swerved, tried to correct it and slid into the parked car). Van is in the shop and can't be driven. Cross your fingers that the repairs aren't crazy expensive and that we don't have to replace it.

I'm gonna go have a good cry now.

Wow, that's terrible. My fingers are crossed for you.

Replacement is actually starting to look better....if we can swing this deal Phil is working on. Especially when we look at possible cost to fix this issue and the repairs that need to happen for inspection this summer...we had talked a few weeks ago about replacing Knitmobile because the things that need to be done are adding up.

And Phil took a look at the van and thinks that this accident may have been a blessing in disguise...it looks like what's broken may have actually cause the accident, not been caused by it, or been on it's way to snapping. A lot more rust under there than we initially thought. So basically this could have been in place of something much worse.

We'll know more tomorrow

I think I'm out for tomorrow too. I had forgotten it was an inservice. And The Boy and I are planning to do something together in the morning, since he doesn't get much time alone with me anymore.

hmmm.... I hate to do this, but with no preschoolers coming, I think I'm going to have to say I can't host it. . I'm sorry Heather. I really need to wear the kids out tomorrow, since DH and I are going out, and we've got a sitter coming. I need to get them running, and with no 'big' kids, that just won't happen.
See everyone next week!

So what's the plan for this week? We are no longer contagious. I'm willing to host if that helps, although I'm getting pretty tired of this apartment, so if anybody else volunteers I'd be thrilled.

I'm willing to host this week. My house is actually pretty clean right now (I know, shocker!) so it's just a matter of maintenance .... (okay, so that's kind of like trying to hold back a flood around here, but it's easier than trying to deal with the flood that's already happened ). And, if the weather holds, there's the back yard for the bigger kids to play in... though the current forecast is for rain .

I'm out for this week, Berkeley and I have to get some stuff done for WWKIP and Friday morning is the only time we can go, due to Phil's schedule.
Hopefully Laura and her girls will be coming with me today. Is that ok?

I'm in but I may be late--it's 9:30 and I'm still not dressed!
