Who here quilts? I usually spend my time in the yarn craft section, but would love to 'meet' other quilters.

I used to quilt quite a bit, but I spend more time knitting these days. But yeah, I'm a quilter.

Anyone else out there?
I've been thnking about a quilt for my dd's "big girl" bed - not that she's anywhere near ready to move out of our bed. I'm thinking I should do something fairly simple and machine quilt it since it will probably need to be washed fairly often. Hmmm....
Anyone ever made a texture quilt for a baby? I was thinking of doing one for a baby shower this fall. I'd just use different textured fabrics for the blocks and sew some embellishments on for the baby to touch and feel too - like maybe rick rack and strips of ribbon.

I'm a new quilter. I've only made one "whole cloth" quilt, but am about to make a patchwork quilt for my dd's big girl bed. I have the fabric all prewashed and pressed. I just keep looking at it but am too chicken to start cutting it LOL! Is that normal???
I've made 2 quilts for ds, both of which are whole cloth quilts. One of them is flannel on one side and printed cotton on the other (with a matching pillow case)....I wanted it to be useful for hot or cold weather. Both quilts are tie quilted with yarn or embroidery floss. Handquilting is my favorite part of the quilting process, but it is very time intensive, so I've done quite a bit of tie quilting.
I would LOVE to make a crazy quilt with fancy cloth bits and embroidered seams, but I have to finish the projects I'm still working on. I just love scrap quilts, probably because those were the sort my grandmothers all made. They seem like the truest expression of quilting.

I like to quilt!
For my girl scout gold award, a troop of junior girl scouts and I made over 20 simple (but cute!) quilts and donated them to the children's hospital. I also taught a couple of classes at a summer camp, and had 2nd graders making their own quilts
I usually piece by machine, and then either machine quilt them or hand tye them. I'm about to start on a more complicated log cabin design for a friend. We'll see how long it takes me to finish though

After years of machine piecing and machine quilting, I started my first all hand done quilt. It's "Grandmother's Flower Garden" pattern entirely of one inch hexagons. I have titled it "The Garden When I'm a Grandmother", and it is all tropical prints, fruits, vegetables, animals. I suspect I will be a great-great-grandmother before I finish it. :LOL

I've been quilting on and off for about 13 years. I'm "on" again right now. We'll see if I get some of my years-old projects done

me too
I quilt too. Mostly baby quilts and they are all hand tyed, but now Im venturing into the larger ones. Hubby keeps begging me for a new blanket so one of these days Im going to get started on his. I have yet to machine quilt or even handf quilt, though I would love too. Hand tying is what I do best, either yarn or ribbon. I do like the way it looks, kind of old fashioned. My dd loves hers so I guess its the way to go
Im glad that there are a lot of others around. Does anyone else have a HUGE fabric collection like I do?

I am a new quilter too. It's something I've wanted to do for years but couldn't manage to start until I took a class with a couple of other women from church. I am currently working on a log cabin quilt for DS. I've machine pieced it and will be machine quilting it too.
I'm already dreaming about my next project. I'd like to make a quilt for my sister and her husband. She loves everything neutral.. creams and beiges. Can anyone recommend a pattern that would make good use of very subtle contrasts in color, and not be too advanced? Are there any websites that I might look to for inspiration?
