Infected (?) Root-canaled tooth

Do I have to do anything for this? It hurts bad enough that its hard to concentrate on work, and can't sleep w/o meds (aspirin last night, that is all we had!) but I HATE going to the dentist and we have NO money at all right now. We're also TTC, but I'm not pg yet if that has anything to do with anything. The soonest I could get in is a week from tomorrow (hubby has the truck and mine will not make the 70 mile drive to the dentist). I think it was crowned, but under (?) the crown on the inside of my mouth is turning black, and the gum around it is swelling. Also feels almost like I have a sinus and slight ear infection on that side also. No fever.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Ooo, and I was wanting to loose about 10 lbs before we got pg, maybe this is the way to do it?

I had to have an emergency root canal while pregnant and it got infected. It was bad, and not something to mess with as the infection could have affected the fetus. I had tot ake antibiotics, which I regret but I really know I had no choice, it was the lesser of two evils. I consulted my midwives and homeopaths as well. I know they don't always travel but tooth infections can be deadly because of the vicinity and travel path. (this is what I have read and been told, if someone knows otherwise I welcome it) I think no fever is a good sign, I had one and got to the point i could barely stand.
I would at the very least watch it very closely.

Yeah, I guess so. It stopped hurting completely today, but I think I'll keep my appt on the 25th with the dentist. Lol, I wouldn't care about me, but I don't want the infection to go to the baby if it came back!

Thanks!
Cara

Oh yeah, and I somehow did manage to lose the 10 lbs that I wanted between yesterday and the day before :LOL
