dp and nursing; a support story

as part of our childbirth class, a bfing class was offered. i made sure that dp came along. i'm the daughter of a retired LLL leader, but i was pretty sure that dp had no bfing experiense. and he dutifully fell in line. he's always been willing to get me a glass of water and after some initially apprihension adjusted to that fact that i wil nurse dd any time anywhere. (the first time dd and i NIPed was at a restaurant in front of his parents. i was nervous too. i found out later that his mom tried to nurse him but had a inverted nipples and no knowledge of where to get support. whew.)

but last night as i was nursing dd and she was popping on and off to look and i was rolling my eyes trying to get her to focus, dp asked, "when is she going to start using bottles?"

"i don't think she's going to. she doesn't really need to," i answered, worried.

"wouldn't it make it easier to feed her?"

monday night dd had played the pop on and off game at a baseball which kinda annoyed me. i know she's 9 months old and just at hat age so i grinna dn bear it.

"it doesn't bother at all when we're at home. i just get tired of the stares when we're out," i said.

"people stare at you? don't they see the baby?" he was shocked.

"some people can't, umm, separate."

"well, that's stupid."

"yes," i told him.

so i was worriedfor nothing.

just wanted to share.

How nice to have a partner that *gets it*! You are a lucky mama!
