Tired of being kicked in the ribs at 39 wks

Hi all -

I'm pregnant with my second (and last!) child. I echo those of you whose posts made reference to very active babies late in pregnancy. It seems like if I'm comfortable then baby is not (e.g. lying on my side - either side), but if I'm not comfortable (seated with knees below hips and leaning way forward) baby is fine. I'm getting kicked, elbowed, kneed, etc. in my ribs and most internal organs - and of course mostly at night (that's why I'm posting this at 3:15 a.m.). My doula recommended Chamomile tea, but that's been very ineffective.

I'm mostly just venting, but anyone have recommendations that worked for them?

Well, I am due on 8/29, and experiencing many of the same things. After reading how well infants respond to motherease, that natural-but-a-bit-too-sweet-sing-songy-tone, I decided to try it. I try to connect with my baby, using the same tone and words that I have used throughout the pregnancy...a very simple, "hey, bayyybeee". It does seem to calm the baby down - I mean it still squirms around, but responds better to my "repositioning efforts".

Hang in there...just think, soon we will miss all these little twinges.

I do the relaxation part of my prenatal yoga video and it sometimes help settle him and move him into better positions, pelvic circles, stretches, cat/cow.
