Need cute rain-poncho ideas

My DD (age 2) is in desperate need of a raincoat and I've decided to sew her a rain poncho.

Anybody got any cute ideas for a theme or style? I have a pattern and some leads on materials. All I could think of was a solid color poncho with little flowers along the bottom. Can anyone think of any more creative ideas?

I love the idea of the solid color with a boarder of flowers. very simple and sweet. Especially if the solid color is bold. But that is my style.

What sort of fabric are you using?

I love that idea! How cute! I think I'd like to make a rain poncho for my 2yo dd would you mind sharing which pattern you have and what material you are going to use?

I have Simplicity 4809, but 5807 would work too (maybe better).

I bought some "supplex nylon" ($3.95/yard) from Seattle Fabrics

so make some skorts for me. I wanted something the 2 yo could slobber on and get fingerpints and chocolate on and would wipe right off!

I have plenty for a poncho. I've got rose, kelly green, blue and khaki. I went hog wild and bought way more than I neeed.

I also saw this bright lime green shiny stuff at the fabric store. It also came in pink. I was thinking of that - maybe trying to do a strawberry with some leaves on the hood. The pink is a good strawberry pink, but I think it needs flecks. DH suggested permanent marker. But I dunno - maybe I should stick with what I've got. The shiny stuff was $15/yard and I'm afraid I'd ruin it trying to do the flecks.
