Ack! I had sent an email to the East Valley Tribune regarding their poll (Should breastfeeding be regulated?) - telling them I thought it was confusing...I received a response from Chrsitia, who is writing a story for tomorrow's edition (Tues) and she asked me to call her for an interview...which I did. We talked about how I voted and why - I voted "no" that I don't think breastfeeding should be regulated - however, I felt that babies and mothers should have a guaranteed right to breastfeed, wherever the mom and baby have a right to be. Then we talked about why I felt so passionately about it...I told her that by seeing my 3 kids, 1 not breastfed, 2 breastfed - proved to me how beneficial breastfeeding is. My ds, who was not breastfed was your "typical" baby - several ear infections, colds, allergies, etc. My 2 daughters have had none of that. I told her that our government should not only support breatfeeding but encourage it for the health of our women, babies and out future. That if WIC would encourage more moms to breastfeed millions of dollars could be saved by no longer having to cut formula checks and by decreasing the amount of Dr. vistis babies often require millions of dollars could be saved there as well - and forget about how much money it would save long term (environment, obesity, etc)
I was really caught of guard and I'm sure I blabbed a bunch...Ack!

: I even told her about a time when I was nursing my dd in a sling while X-mas shopping. I was talking to a 16 yo boy about how great NY Pizza was and I told her had he KNOWN what was going on down there - there was NO WAY he would have been sitting there chatting with me. She loved that story...great!
