Packing list for sibling at hospital birth?

This is a cross-post from the Pregnancy Board...

I was wondering if anyone had experience with, or good ideas for, what to bring to the hospital for 3.5 yo dd to keep her (and her support folks, DP's dad and stepmom) entertained should the labor be long and boring. Here is what we were thinking:

Toys
Coloring stuff and scissors
DVDs and Player
Disposable camera
Present from babe
Sweater/Jacket
Snacks/Drinks
"I'm a big sister" t-shirt
Sleeping Bag (leave in car just in case)

Other suggestions? Thanks!

Sounds like a good list. We brought pretty much everything on that list with us when we had ds2. The only thing that ds1 was interested in was watching the new "Bob the Builder" DVD that we saved for the occasion. Of course, there really wasn't much time for anything else since labor was under two hours.

i would make sure that a couple of the toys are new at least to your dd. new will keep her interest longer. when my first younger brother was born i got a baby doll so i could have a baby too. you might want to consider something like that.

Thanks for the ideas!

We did buy a boy doll awhile ago so she'd have her own baby, THEN she decided to name the "baby in her belly" Alice in Wonderland, which has stuck for two months now, and so last week was a mad scramble on EBay to find dd an Alice in Wonderland doll (we already have a doll sling and matching doll baby blanket to the one for the impending babe made by DP's grandmother).
