I have considered myself unschooling, but now that I'm getting divorced and ex wants my kids in school, I'm in fast-moving CYA mode. I just bought some OM curriculum and am just starting to wade through it. DD is 5.5 and reads, writes phonetically, adds, subtracts (not on paper but does phenominally with manipulatives) and knows how to multiply. I'm not too worried about things.
But I feel we're really lacking in SS (history mostly; we do pretty well with geography) and science. I'd like to have all my bases covered when we go to court on Sept 7 to get temporary orders, and want to be able to make a very solid homeschooling case (I don't even have to file with the state this year cuz she won't be 6 until the end of October.)
Can anybody point me to some relaxed curriculums or resources that are hopefully very inexpensive (broke single mama budget, LOL) to put into place?
Or is this all covered in OM? Which I'm still getting to ...
THanks!
Kristi
