I have been trying to keep my fiber intake up. So when I have carbs, I try to make sure there's fiber in them. or I'm eating fiber at the same time. Like I'll let myself have a piece of chocolate if I'm eating oatmeal orbrown rice. And I try to avoid white rice and pasta because it doesn't have much fiber. but I'll eat whole grain pasta, which doesn't taste as good or cook as well so I just avoid pasta and go for the brown rice, which I like better than white rice, anyway. Hm, it's not so much the taste of whole grain pasta, it's the texture, it breaks easily, yada yada. And no white breads - bagels, sour dough, etc. That's kinda sad, but it's part of the plan, so ok. Sometimes I'll have a bread that has whole wheat added, but it's not the same as a real whole wheat bread. Those straight on starchy carbs w/no fiber tend to make my blood sugar react, so that's another motivator.
Works pretty well, so far.
