Is this normal, or am I being paranoid?

For mamas who have already gone through pregnancy before, how many weeks did your morning sickness last?

I feel like I jinxed myself by complaining so much about my nausea. I am 8 weeks today, and yesterday afternoon, my nausea pretty much stopped. I've been feeling constant queasiness since about 5 weeks, so that was only 3 weeks of morning sickness for me. Is that normal? I've gagged a couple times this morning, but nothing like I was feeling before. I'm just terrified.

I don't have any cramping or bleeding, but now I feel like I'm just waiting for the other shoe to drop. Is it possible for the unmentionable to happen without any signs of bleeding??? Is this reason to call my OB's office, or do they only worry if there is bleeding/cramping? Am I being unnecessarily paranoid?

If you are worried, call your doctor. If it would give you peace of mind, I would do it.

However, with my first pregnancy, I had morning sickness on and off for many months. In fact, even in my late stages, I still gagged when I brushed my teeth. I think it is common to have good days and bad days, but everyone is different.

I am only 4 weeks along, so the morning sickness hasn't hit bad. Again, for me, it comes and goes.

I think it's totally normal for m/s to come and go for lots of women. It has with me. I agree that if it makes you feel better to check with the doctor then you should. But if it helps I lost all symptoms of pregnancy with my 2nd dd sometime around 7 weeks. She's 21 months now!

Thanks, ladies! I called my OB, and she said that as long as I'm not having any vaginal bleeding or painful stomach cramps, in all likelihood, everything is OK. That makes me feel a bit better. DH says I should just be happy that I might be one of the lucky ones whose morning sickness ended a little early. Let's hope so!

Don't worry Erica, you're probably just having a good day and pretty soon you'll be sick again and wishing you weren't. (Okay that sounds funny but is meant to be reassuring).
With my first pregnancy I would be sick starting at 4pm. I would only be sick all day if I went to bed too late or did too much in one day.

I know you posted this yesterday, so how are you feeling today? Is your nausea back? If not, just enjoy it. Ahh... motherhood is filled with anxiety. When we are sick we want it to stop, when we aren't sick we worry if everything's okay. to you.

Morning Sickness

I am PG with #2 and never had any morning sickness with #1, and thus far (6 weeks) I haven't had any yet (although there is still time!).

I am by no means any expert, but I think morning is different for everyone. It can be triggered by diet, your toothbrush, or seemingly with no reason at all. I had major aversions to food with PG#1, and thus far nothing with PG#2.

I am, however like wencit in the sense that NOT having morning sickness makes me wonder sometimes, however, I also think that the degree of nausea does not necessarily correlate with degree of pregnancy (i.e. "more" pregnant throwing up, "less" pregnant because you may feel OK?!)

You should celebrate your queasy-free days!

I'm feeling slightly more nauseous today, and I couldn't be happier!

It's not as bad as the past few weeks, but I'm definitely feeling a little queasy. Maybe my baby was just taking pity on its poor mommy yesterday.

I'm trying very, very hard to stay positive and just enjoy the ride. Thanks for asking, PinkPixie.

Erica, it all depends. Morning sickness, if you have it should theoretically last about 10 to 12 weeks. (at least first Tri ms) Remember, though, that some days are worse than others.

About the bleeding thing, I m/c at 9.5 weeks without ever bleeding or cramping. I found out at my first appt. that my baby died at 6 weeks. Every women m/c differently--some get symptoms, others don't.

The best advice I can give you is to stay positive and try not to worry. The first tri is so difficult in general and your fears can really catch up to you. When ever you feel completely baffled, feel free to call your practitioner.

I know I have mini freakout's all the time. That is the nature of being pg.
