Ohh, the spacers is a good idea. I made my bracelet last night, I just used stretchy string and clamped it off at the end. I have to admit, I am normally a very symmetrical person, so making this bracelet with all of the different sizes and colors and shapes was a bit "distressing" to me.
But then I reminded myself that its a good allegory to labor, that nothing will happen in a nice, orderly fashion. I need to go with the flow and appreciate the beauty in disorder as well! Good lesson! And once I changed my mind around, I see the bracelet in a whole new light!
I decided to go with the bracelet because I can look at it during labor and I was afraid that a necklace around my neck might bother me during labor.
Oh and as far as my beads, I chose hematite because I have always loved how those beads looks. They are dark and sort of mysterious to me, which is how I feel about labor. Not dark as in evil, but just shrouded in mystery because you have no idea what its really about until it happens. I also like that you can see your reflection in it, so it looks different to each person who sees/experiences it.
Thanks everyone for participating. I am glad that at least most mamas received their beads before they had their babes. And for those who did not, at least you have a lasting memory of your DDC.
