organising 'favorites'?

Thread Starter
how do you organise your 'favorites' on the computer?
what are your folders?

i started with several broad ones months ago: homeschooling; activities; articles. now i need to get more specific, as i am way too cluttered and it is getting difficult to find stuff -- i do it by intuition mostly :LOL

can you share your organisation, pretty please?

Mine are a mess right now, been months since I've organized and I must have 1000 links, at least! LOL! Someone on my hs group recommended this:

Quote:
4) Speaking of links, I use Powermarks from www.kaylon.com as my link
manager; it doesn't use folders but instead treats the links as entries in
an index (so I can type "magazine" and all the magazine entries pop).
Highly recommended way to keep track of stuff!
I just downloaded it, it looks cool, it's like a search engine for bookmarks. It's free to try for 30 days, no restrictions on use, but it's 24.95 after that. I will probably try to find something similar for free after this trial if I find this is a good way to do go

Good Luck!!

I have lots of folders. I think I'm pretty organized, but then it all looks like so much. It works really well for me and I never seem to have to add any others. Anyway, here are my folders:

Blogs

Frugal

Health

Homeschool
(laws, articles, good basic websites)

Folders for each academic subject (math, geography, crafts, etc). So easy for both J and I to find what we're looking for this way.

H/S General Topics (websites with lots of different academic subjects)

H/S Correspondence (examples and ideas for creating home instruction plans and reports to send to the district)

H/S Groups (all the local h/s groups)

H/S To Buy (stuff I want to buy)

H/S Tests (sites where I can purchase standardized tests)

NYC Activities (sites of museums, theaters, parks, etc)

Online Coupons

Investing

Information
(sites that back up my views on things )

I have lots of folders and subfolders. Some I created before I put anything in them, like Homeschooling. Others I created after I noticed I had a lot of links hanging around without organization, like Toddler Activities.

So, here's what I have: (subfolders are denoted with a - and sub-subfolders with a *)

I also have 57 links that are currently unsorted into any folder! I should probably dump them in to Miscellaneous, but even better I should probably delete a lot of them!

I have over 700 links all together, so I know about having trouble finding things. I try to make a mental note when I bookmark something so that I have a better chance of remembering where I put it!

HTH!

Namaste!
