ok I live in Texas and currently my daughter is in public schools first grade she was just dynosed with PDD (pervasive devlopment disorder and the public schools are failing my daughter they have the open concept learning she is crowded in a trailer with 4 other first grade classes. I have tried to get her in a resource room but her iq is to high for it. I feel she is getting more behind I was thinking about putting her in a monterrsori school. she does great with hands on learning and Iam just wondering if this is the route to go or not I do now that Iam going to be pulling her out of the public school system.

There is this article (it's a PDF, be patient) on the autism spectrum and Montessori:

Each school is different. I know in Texas, in some districts, there are Montessori Public Schools -I would speak with the principal at your local Montessori. I have heard that it can be very competitive to get into them.

If you want to look into private schools, speak with the school directors and ask if they have previous experience and/or are prepared/set up to welcome a child with PDD.

Good Luck!
