At any rate, if I had a choice to do it over again I would order from Serena. OSDS is spendy, they charge a lot for shipping and you can't get the snaps anywhere else. On top of that, I had a problem with my snap press a few months back, e-mailed OSDS for help and they never replied. Luckily I had just stumbled upon the Diaper Sewing Divas website and those awesome ladies had the anwers I needed!
Oh, and ETA: If you need dies, Serena sells them for $15 a set. The Snapstore will sell the same one for $28.

Did you buy the regular or industrial dies from osds?

So do I, but I'm happy with them.
If you had bought the standard dies, they would work with the snaps from other carriers. In fact you could still get the other dies for your press and buy snaps elsewhere if you want.

You know, I have been looking to get another set of dies. I really want a KAM die set, since I can order snaps from a few different places if I want. So as soon as I get some spending $$ I will have to decide where from! I'm happy with the set I have now but want a different size.

I keep thinking I want the littler sz 16 ones (I have 20s now) but haven't bought them yet. Honestly the last thing i need is more craft supplies. I still want 'em though.

so I just got my snap press from the snap store... how the heck do I use it?!? It came with no directions, and nothing labeled. I got the 18/20 die set, and only one piece is labeled 18 (I think the top) and I don't know what the others are. I got size 18 snaps.

I guess when buying an industrial item they think you will already know how to use it, but it is still annoying to not have any instructions with it!

Excellent, thanks! The hex tools were stuck in the bottom of the box so I didn't know they were there. I couldn't figure out how to get the top part to stay and the pins weren't squishing well. I got it now! DH has been snapping our dishtowels.

As a hole punch We make medieval and renaissance costumes, so we use a lot of grommets and punch holes for the chicago screws we use for our belts.

Is ordering from Serena cheaper and better? I have seen presses for $62. Are the snaps really that much more expensive elsewhere.? I guess I am having trouble navigating through the group so far.

Ugh, I'm really frustrated with mine. It's not consistant. Often it just doesn't squish the snaps down enough and they won't snap together. I try and try again- I tightened the bolt that seems to make it squish down more...better- but still not dependable.

It's frustrating when you put time into making something, then you are scared to snap it because they might not work! I need to figure out a solution.

I have the KAM snap press and find that if I don't get a good enough compression then I'll see that middle piece sticking up a bit. If I just place it back in the press and press down again, it'll take care of it and the snaps fit. As long as you fit the snap to the die again, you should be able to compress it more than once.

ETA - I just read that you have the 18/20 die set, so I'm not *positive* my method will work. I have the size 16 die set.

Hey! I haven't been here in ages but was looking for reviews on snap presses and here I am, cool!:

I am looking to put metal halo or open snaps on my mama pads....
Any opinions on the best press? Is plastic really easier? How does it last? I like the heavy duty feel/look of metal as a selling point...
I'm looking at thesnapstore KAM model, do you like it for metal snaps?
