Lily Dorothy arrived!

Lily Dorothy arrived on Saturday, August 13. I just now have the time to post. She was born at home 5 days before the doctor's due date and 13 days before the due date I calculated based on my cycles. She was 7 lbs., 13 oz and 21" long. She is healthy and all is well.

DH and I have been grinning ear to ear for days, but we've had quite the trouble with breastfeeding so far that has prevented me from getting online and posting.

I hope to post the full home birth story soon.

Congrats Karen! Welcome to the world Lily. That is such a pretty name.

Maybe getting in touch with your local LLL people will be able to help with your bf problems. Keeping my fingers crossed that you get it all worked out soon.

Welcome to the world Lily!

I have the name of a great IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) who lives in the Villa Park/Lombard area. She really helped after ds was born and came home w/no latch, nipple confusion, he was extremely sleepy, I had overactive let-down, blah, blah, blah. Let me know if you want me to give you her info and good luck! Ds is still nursing at 27 months - so it does get better! And one piece of advice I got as a new breastfeeding mama - just give it six weeks and then re-evaluate. Sometimes I had to go feeding by feeding, sometimes I could look ahead to the next 2 or 3 feedings, but I gave myself permission to re-evaluate at 6 weeks. By then our issues had ironed themselves out and we were on our way!
