Montessori Co-op

Thread Starter
Hi!

Does anyone have experience with starting a Montessori co-op? I am from a small town in rural GA. with no Montessori available at all (and very few choices otherwise). Some friends and I were thinking of recruiting a certified Montessori teacher and then taking turns helping out in the classroom. We would like to begin with Pre-K and Kindergarten and go from there. I am a certified teacher (not Montessori) with prior experience working in a Montessori school in Virginia. It is really important to us to have this option for our children. Any help/advice you could give us would be great!

This is my first post on MDC but I've always enjoyed reading what you all have to say...

Best,
Cade'smom

Hi --just wanted to welcome you! There are some Montessori folks who stop by, but feel free to bump your thread up if a couple of days go by without an answer.

Wish I had some info for you. It can be useful to check past threads inthis subforum or do a search on co-ops.

I know I have read a story about some moms who started one. Maybe in Mothering?? I will try to find it. It was about 2 years ago when I read that. It was great though.

Sorry to not have real helpful info! Try Google. I would love to start one myself, too. I am in CA, or I'd offer to help you.

Ds is going to a Montessori preschool now. Once he finishes preschool, the Montessori elementary schools' tuition is beyond our means.

I've been thinking of our options . . . curious to see others' responses here.

Check this out. I'm trying to get one going, too, so I've been doing a lot of research.
