Flower Fairy Crowns

Well the Renaissance Festival is in town and I'd like to make my dd a flower crown to wear there (since they are so expensive in the fair)
I am crafty, but I don't know what to make the headband part with? It would have to be something sturdy yet pliable. If anyone knows or has made one before I would really appreciate some direction.

Hello, I made one of these for my oldest daughter for a wedding. The head ring/crown was floral wire wrapped in green floral tape. I don't rember what gauge wire. It was heavy but flexible. I used thinner floral wire to wrap the flowers on and finally floral tape to cover up all the wire. It took two tries because I used regular sized flowers the first time and I was way too big. Try to remember smaller head = smaller flowers! This may sound like a lot to buy, but it shouldn't cost too much at your local craft store.

Great, did you use the silk flowers & greenery then? How did you attach them, into the tape?
I also saw some had long ribbons that go all the way down the back on them, they are very pretty!!

The Jan/Feb 2002 issue of Mothering has an article about garland crowns and directions on how to do one. Thats how I learned.
Don't know if it is archived on the site though.
Here it is

I used the method linked above, but with silk flowers and greenery. My daughter still has it and loves to play in it. The long ribbons can be attached with floral wire too. Just wrap around with the thin wire until your flowers (or ribbons) are secure and then wrap again with floral tape to be pretty.

Thanks! I think I still have that issue somewhere, I'll see if I can find it. Then, to Michael's to get the supplies! Huzzah!!
