chapped foreskin??

DH would kill me if he knew i was posting this....but dh has had some problems with his foreskin being chapped. He said the other day that he should've got "snipped" and we should've thought about "snipping" our son. Anyone have any idea what causes chapped foreskin and how to help it without messing with nature (circing).

I'm no expert, but my ds was having this issue and I could NOT figure it out!! I tried changing laundry soap (about 50 times), stopped using soap in the bath, everything! I finally figured it out this summer (my ds is 2.5 and he's had this issue on and off since he was about 12 months) when we went to Italy and it went away (meanwhile, he's in the chlorine pool a lot, eating "different" foods every day, and I'm washing dipes with Gain! LOL)... It took me about a week to figure it out after we got home...

He's allergic to SOY! And here, I've been giving my kids soy milk, tofu, soy "hot dogs" etc. at least every day and had almost completely cut out all but fermented dairy, thinking that was the reason my older ds had excema... nope, his excema went away TOO!!!!

So, tell DH to try an elimination diet... you never know what it could be!

Good luck!

Lo

P.S. I fully understand that I could be SO wrong on this, too... just wanted to share my experience!

It might just be a yeast overgrowth. Has he tried monistat type cream on it?

I tell ya, I've had many yeast infections in my life, with intensely burning and itchy labia - but I don't want to cut them off or cut my daughters' off! I hope he regains a rational perspective soon - child crying, would type more.

Errr... if he didn't have a foreskin, wouldn't the glans itself be chapped?

Feebee has beat me to the punch again!

I was thinking a low level yeast infection as well. Usually, chapping is on exposed skin so it would be very unlikely that a protected area such as the foreskin would get chapped unless he's a nudist. :LOL A yeast infection would mimick chapping though and could be easily confused. Sounds like a trial run with an over the counter yeast medication may provide a cure.

Yep, I was going to say yeast. My ds1 has problems frequently w/ yeast and chapped foreskin due to yeast. Ds2 has it once in a great while. I find it very interesting that ds1's bio dad often had a chapped skin on his penis (he was circ'd so it was the whole thing. And sometimes there would also be a few pimply yeast rash type things) that bothered him a lot! Every time, he freaked out like he thought he had some strange STD. I TOLD him I thought it was yeast, but he refused to let me put my yeast cream on him. He had issues w/ "feminine" products and refused to admit I might be right and buy something made for men. So I would insert it myself like I had a YI (even if I didn't have one) and then have sex w/ him. HA! ROFL! I wonder if a tendency to have yeast issues is genetic?

Well, yeah, he might develop boobs or something! :

Seriously, your solution is very inventive and clever. It cured his problem, kept you safe from infection and preserved his macho image!

I was talking to an ex-GF last night who told me she had been suffering from yeast infections. She was the one that refused to intercede on behalf of her grandson. I told her that she probably needed to be circumcised, that many doctors think it prevents yeast infections in men and it would probably work for her too. She didn't think that was very funny : : :

However, she did tell me that there is a new pill for yeast infections. It usually only takes one dose and it only cost $3.85. She took it at the doctor's office and unfortunately, doesn't know the manufacturer or name of the medication. :

Whenever this has happened to dh, we have treated it like a yeast infection and it has cleared up.

I hope you get it figured out. I dont think that snipping would be an answer

Yeah, Dh doesn't want to circ nor would I let him....but he's in pain when it gets chapped. I have some monistat cream that i used for a rash so I'll let him know to use that Thanks
