Soo.....nak ( milk came in !)
Labor started at 3 pm on Monday the 22nd. I was so excited that it was happening. I got into the shower. My DHand DS were at the park. My friend called from Cali to check up and we talked for 20 minutes or so. I had a few contractions. Hmmmm.... they seemed about 5 minutes apart already.....
When DH got home at 4, I yelled " this is it- we are in labor." We called the doula at 4:30 and said we would check back. We called our friend who was going to stay with DS. I got into the tub and labored- they were strong, but not too painful- still every 5 minutes. At 5:30 I told DH that we needed the doula NOW. I was dealing with the surges well, but needed to concentrate and breathe. I was on hands and knees in the shower for the next hour or so. It felt great. Contraction were 3 and 4 minutes apart.
Doula arrived at 6:00 or so and I was moving along. She massaged my back in the shower. DH tried to check and see about dilation, but it was tricky ( now we think I may have been fully dilated or 9 with lip) So, more moaning, singing, rocking, etc.
At 7 pm we decide to go to the birthing center because I think I feel pushy. Contractions were close together and long. I had a c section with DS, so pushy was a new feeling. IT didn't hurt though, just felt new. Got into the car for transition ( oh joy). I blew bubbles to keep myself from pushing too hard. It was a 15 minute drive and I had about 6-7 hard contractions. I was almost ready to pull the car over- I really was ready to have this baby.
Got to the BC at 7:35- got into the room- dropped my clothes and PUSHED! IT felt awesome, wat better than transition. I could feel the head and I was already crying with joy. I was going to VBAC!!!! Out came the head with a gush, next the body and it was such a feeling. Emmett was fully born at 8:05 pm. He weighed 8lb 5 oz. He came to my chest and nursed a little. He stayed on my chest and wasn't taken away ( well he still hasn't been two days later!!! )
Well, that is the play by play- the emotional side of things is that I feel wonderful. Having the VBAC was so healing for me. My body knows exactly what to do and this babe was in the exact right position for my body to do it gracefully and with ease. Emmett is so happy and we are so blessed.
Thanks to all that encourage me to have the strength to go for the VBAC. I am very proud of Emmett and myself.
Pics later. I can only seem to do one thing at a time.
