I have a dumb question...cavity between teeth...

My dentist says I have a cavity on one and maybe two of my teeth. It's not on the top or front or back, it is kindof inbetween teeth. How can they fill that? How in the world would they get instruments inbetween your teeth to get the that side of the tooth?

I had four cavities between my teeth earlier this year and wondered the same thing. I don't know how they get in there but when it's done you can see the filling as if it's on the top of the tooth (had to go with the cheaper silvery colored unfortunately).

I don't know how they get in there either. But it does sound like you both need to start flossing regularly, and maybe eat better too.

Check out westonprice.com which is an excellent website on how diet is the main factor when it comes to tooth decay, and not brushing, and certainly not use of fluoride in the water or in commercial toothpastes.

Halhuggins.com is a good site too.

ok, I know you were just trying to be helpful, but do you really know how I floss or eat in order to just assume I don't do it well or often?

Considering this is the only (maybe 2?) cavaties I've had since I was a teenager and I'm in my 30's, I think I've done ok...

I do have to admit that since having dd (17 months), I haven't had as much time to floss as oftern and eat as well as I had been... and I know that is probably why I got the cavity.

Ok, sorry about that. You're right, big assumption on my part. To be honest I don't floss at all, and have never had a cavity between my teeth. Not sure why that is.

Sounds like you're doing alright cavity wise.

They go in through the top of the tooth (the chewing surface) to get to the decay. When it's filled, the filling will be like an "L" shape. It comes down the side and across the chewing surface.
