How to lengthen a vest?

First of all, I dont sew at all!! I would be ading a strip of velcro or hot gluing an addition on.
I have a Gap denim vest that I Love, but it is a tad bit short.
I am thinking of adding a bottom layer of something to lengthen it. Anyone have any good ideas?
What about adding velcro, so I could change it? Maybe do a leather fringe one day, eyelet lace another?
Would that work?

mm - probably not. The velcro would make it lumpy - the fringe or trim would stand out further from the vest than you'd want it to - plus you'd need to sew the velcro to all of your fringes, so it's actually a lot more work. That and the fact that velcro comes "paired" so there'd be a lot of waste - and velcro's not cheap.

Without seeing the hemline of the vest, I think your best bet is stretch lace - which is becoming really popular on camisoles and tank tops this year. You might go to the fabric store and ask the shopkeepers if there is anyone who would do that piece work for you. They might even take barter if you offer to cook a meal or something.

I wouldn't hot glue either if it's something you want to wash. And hotglue doesn't do great fabric to fabric. There are some spay glues that do a little better on that front, but still not an easy thing to glue fabric together.

thanks for the advice.
I think I will not bother. I can wear it as is with shorter tops.
