Trying AIH (IUI) for the first time.

Well today I started taking my clomid although I am pretty unsure about when to start taking it. I know you start taking it on day 2 or 3 but in my case I have gotten spotting for four days so I waited for my period to arrive because the colouring was so light and there was no flow, then I got one morning of heavy bleeding which I called my day one then it went back to light spotting this morning which is frustrating - how am I supposed to know when my day one is??

I have my scan booked for like 8 days from now and I don't want to muck it up.

Has anyone else ever had this problem?

When we were having our infertility procedures, I remember them saying that the first day that heavy flow was present when I woke up was to be counted as day 1. I think this comes up a lot, because with all the hormonal manipulation, everyone's cycle is screwy. HTH.

I think I stared taking it on day 3 for five days. I usually went in for an u/s on day 12 to check follical growth. I think the protocol varies from starting on day 3 or 5 so it depends what your dr. said. I would count the first day of actual bleeding (not spotting or the dark old blood).

Do you have any questions about the IUI procedure? Are you using an HcG injection to force ovulation? What does the H mean (AIH)? My dh has azoospermia so we used donor sperm (another 1000$ a month and lower success rates) when we went through the process.

wow! You must be using that Phd sperm! I'm using donor sperm and the entire cycle using 2 vials, shipping and a ton of OPKs came to $540. This cycle i'm only using 1 vial and the total cost is about $349. Not a bad deal! If this month fails i'm switching banks next cycle because i'm tried of the crap from the sperm bank but it will actually be about $50mo cheaper because of the shipping its much cheaper at the other bank ($75 vs $159) even though the vials cost a bit more.

:LOL No...we didn't go for the Phd sperm (although we certainly laughed our asses off at the price increase for the education!) I can't remember the actual prices- maybe not 1000 bucks exactly but darn close. Good luck...we had two very early miscarriages- just long enough to know I was pregnant only to learn I wasn't. One through at home inseminations and our first try with IUI.

Do you have an ovulation detector? Most times infertility docs or nurses will actually do an ultrasound on you once a month or so as well as blood tests to check when your "real" ovulation time is. Especially when facing infertility issues, your period can be a bad indicator of ovulation time.

I have read through some of those donor sperm catalogs. Some are ridiculously priced. I would definitely shop around.
