For posting this. It's something I've been thinking of posting for several days.

Parents who spank--do you think any of them ever stop to think that maybe their child is someone who is, well "turned on" (for lack of better expression) by spanking?

That was my situation, when I was a child. Of course, I never got those butterflies in my tummy when my parents went after me, but I used to stay glued to Tom and Jerry waiting for a paddling scene. Yeah, disgusting I know... But still, it's one of the reasons I'm committed to GD'ing our son.

I have thought of this, after reading Rousseau's Les Confessions. Apparently he was turned on by being spanked... I don't think spankers necessarily give a great deal of thought to spanking. It's sort of like, "everybody else is doing it so I'll do it too" discipline.

I doubt they ever consider that - I have always known it was wrong to hit children and always knew that I would never, ever hit a child, but it never even crossed my mind that they might enjoy it in that way. I *do* think hitting a child on the butt is extremely perverted, no matter what the parent's intentions are! When explaining to my husband that we would not ever hit our child, I did tell him, "Hitting a kid on their butt is just sick. It's perverted and disgusting."

Um, I'm sorry, but that's the strangest thing I've ever heard of. When I was spanked as a kid, I was sad, furious, angry, repulsed, sore, and betrayed. I was never turned on by it--not in the least. I can't imagine there are too many kids out there getting hit by their parents that actually LIKE it...

Sounds like a valid concern to me. It seems like some adults are turned on by spanking (don't they use it in porn movies and such?)

Just one more reason (if there were not enough) for declaring spanking dead wrong.

Well, I have wondered if people who do this to their kids get some kind of sick sexual thrill from it. All the elaborate paddling devices and pro-spanking websites sure look like child porn sites to me. Gross.

No no no!! You don't understand. My parents spanking me never excited me. That's just gross. I'm saying that watching cartoons like Tom and Jerry--even as a kid... And I'm just wondering if parents ever take that into mind. Heck, do a google search of spanking, it's a HUGE fetish. Besides, it's better than some other things (like 'showers)
