Parents at lunch?

My dd only ate half her sandwich at lunch and then went off to the front of the campus to look for me today at lunch. She says there were "lots" of other parents there, and she thought I'd be there too. :-( She was hoping she could ask me for hot lunch because she "didn't want" what I had packed. (I packed cantelope, an apple and PB sandwich, popcorn, and trail mix, and water. All things she likes.)

I had no idea that parents had the option of coming for lunch! Is that common at your school?

I don't know how many parents do it, but I know they do here. The schools here are very lax about rules like that.

Yes. It's failry common here as well.

My school has an open policy on parents coming for lunch. I've done it once.

I go eat lunch with my kids a couple times a month. This really gives you an idea of the personalities of the other kids that are in your child's class.

Our school system is fine with this. I just sign in at the front desk and meet them at the corner of the hall and lunchroom at the appointed time.

My dd is in 4th grade this year but I have never heard of parents stopping by for lunch. I guess if you were working in the building or volunteering that you could but I have never heard of this. I am sure that if it were requested it would be ok but all volunteers at our schools here must have badges and CORI checks so it would be hard to keep track of who is in and out.

My kids school encourages parents to lunch with their kids as often as they want. All they do is stop in the office for a pass.

I am in the lunchroom and playground three days a week, and the kids absolutely love it when their parents come to eat with them. They feel so special.

My dd's school encourages it as well. She just started school but since I work right next door to the school, I'll probably make a couple of appearances.

WE can go to lunch anytime, but need to call ahead first so the lunchroom knows (if we're eating their lunch). If we bring our own lunch, we just need to sign in at the office.

My ds just started kindergarten today and they invited us for lunch (about 90% of the parents were there). I figured it was a first day of school thing, but they made a point to let us know that we are welcome to come for lunch (for k-5th) as often as we want to

We were always allowed to eat lunch with our crew as long as we called ahead. They had a table in the lunchroom where the parent could sit with their child and one friend of the child's choice.
