Mom needing dental work...have nurslings-HELP!

I'll start at the beginning.
I have many murcury laden fillings. (prior to knowing about murcury....) I haven't been to a dentist since before my first child was born. Now I need to have some seriouse dental work (read: pain!) and the ones that are painful are in teeth that have metal fillings/caps already.
Here's the question: How do I have the work done that I know I need while nursing a 3y.o. and my 7m.o. (who is still exclusively breastfed)? I'm worried as I know they will need to drill or something to the existing fillings. I can't chance my youngest getting more metals. (mother's instincts-following those...)
Any suggestions?
Also we are in a small town, no one takes any insurance (not that we have any) or discount plans, and money is an issue. And we don't have any dentists that are certified (or whatever it is) in safe removal of amalgam.
I'm not willing to wean her...I just don't know what to do.
TIA-
