I am 37 weeks pregnant and have had a few episodes of ongoing contractions. Each time it has happened the baby's back has been to the left of my bellybutton. When not contracting, baby's back is to the right of my bellybutton. Why? Is the baby's position causing the contractions or is the baby moving because of them? What is the ideal position for a baby at the beginning of labor? How was your baby positioned during labor? My first baby was occiput posterior. I can attest to the fact that his position was a terrible one for labor and birth!
